Lunch, Day Twenty-Three

  • sandwich made with 2 oz sliced roast beef, 1/2 medium tomato sliced, 2 slices whole wheat bread, 2/3 tbsp low-fat mayonnaise
  • 2 cups mixed salad greens with 2 tbsp fat-free French dressing
  • 1/4 oz whole almonds
  • 40 g dried apricots
  • 1/2 cup skim milk

I got over my roast beef squeamishness from yesterday and was able to (mostly) enjoy this sandwich. Sometimes this meal plan has kind of screwy combinations or things which feel tacked-on, such as the almonds or a random half-glass of milk. I appreciate the thought that goes into ensuring proper nutrition and so forth, but I imagine a slice of cheese on the sandwich might have covered the calcium of the milk or some of the protein/fat from the nuts. This is why I'd like to learn more about nutrition, though, so that I can really understand what I'm eating and why, rather than blindly do what the meal plan tells me to.

I wish I'd followed my instinct not to have salad, though, as I did not really enjoy it at all.
